'Salle
Rose in Action.'
Salle Rose is more than just a sports club. We like to be part of the community. We have been involved in everything from the Suffolk Show in 1999 to the Felixstowe Festival of Youth 2000, and the Felixstowe Carnival most years. We run 'Come and Try' taster sessions for 8 and over at various venues in the county.

In Summer 04 we helped to run a taster session with Mencap. They have asked us to do it again so I think they liked it!. A photo will be appearing soon. Maybe not - privacy issues.
In July 2002 we did a morning of displays and taster sessions at Trimley St. Mary Primary School. It was great fun and we had an amazing reception. Some of the letters of thanks and drawings we later received have been scanned in and are displayed here.
These were taken on the day of the Felixstowe Carnival 2000 where the theme was Victorian. Although the Brackenbury float did not enter in the theme category some of us tried to be in theme. Although these don't look much in thumbnail they are worth a click.
Fortunately no-one was around with a camera to see me in my blanket and Mel Gibson make-up - complete with 48'' Wallace Sword in 1999!!!!
St Niklaas Belgium November 2000.
Thanks to Claudia Bokel (formally word No. 1- still in the top 10 - and could be No. 1 again) from Germany, for this picture of Jos, receiving her 3rd place medal from this competition. Claudia is the one nearest to the official in the red and black tracksuit. Thanks for lending me your camera Claudia, I hope the other pictures are as nice.

My thanks to Miles Whitworth for this Superb (and very large) Photo. I suggest that you do not try to view it unless you have broadband? But it is a great picture.
The only way a referee ever gets seen?
Final of the Bristol Elite 2000. The fight is just over. Stepien Marik beats Jonathon Willis. Stepien is great to ref; he is always polite. John is too; he also gives it all he has got and shows good sportsmanship. They are two of my favourite men to referee.

Jon and Philip at the Miller Hallet 2003
Jon and Phil in Simultaneous action in the first round pool. Philip is fencing George Liston who eventually finished 3rd. Jon is fencing Gee who made L16
Jon faces Marik Stepien in the last 32. Jon lost this 15 - 7 and Marik went on to win, with only one fencer scoring more than Jon on Marik all day.

The newspaper article with a great picture of Ellie - A large file - to read it, it maybe better to right click and 'save target as..'
That

Ellie gets stuck into Olly?
Alysia and Jos battle it out on the new piste
We also tried out 'Footsport' that night'
Sam instructs, John tries, with Alysia looking
on.
Halfway there!
John's done! Now for Alysia.
It's not so tough?
There is
an ongoing debate about how to make fencing more attractive to spectators.
Here's my idea. ![]()
